About MDF

Manda has worked as a waitress, house cleaner, ear piercer at Wal-Mart, barrista, nanny, bookseller, sous chef, administrative assistant, and "cater waiter" to name a few endeavors. Through all these remained the impulse to create, whether through painting, theatre make-up, writing, interior decoration, or elaborate theme parties. After receiving a BFA from Emerson in Writing, Literature, and Publishing, she considered, and reconsidered, a career in teaching.

Part Audrey (Hepburn), Sarah (Silverman) and Marilyn (Monroe) by nature, she is obsessed with vintage, antiques, fashion, collecting, millinery, and recycling. She gets inspired by other peoples' forays into the world of vintage and DIY creations and the idea for red bird vintage was born of her impulse to cut up two old dresses to create a new dress. Then two old hats to create a new hat. And then another. And then another. And then another.

She's all about reinvention. Whimsical princess meets street meets punk, with some Old Hollywood glam thrown in for good measure.
